Position Summary:

The Web Developer/Graphic Designer, reporting to Online Marketing Manager, is responsible for design and layout changes to meet short to medium term site improvement needs. The designer will also support long term site improvements by working in conjunction with IT development counterparts to keep the company website technologically current (e.g. Flash implementation, search enhancements, etc).

Responsibilities:

• Design and create solutions through banners, article pop-ups, PDF's in support of online initiatives, promotions, seasonal content.
• Support business needs through Flash development of feature pages, special offers messaging, banners and more.
• Identify and recommend new creative treatments to keep the site fresh and to enhance the customer experience.
• Maintain standards and style to ensure design and coding is efficient and consistent with current standards & trends, and is compatible across various platforms.
• Design and develop Graphic User Interfaces (GUI's) based on business requirements, creative treatment and system functionality: using HTML, DHTML, Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and JavaScript.
• Serve as site design expert through evaluation of competitor design approaches and understanding of market trends and advancements in technology; provide informed recommendations in support of developing business needs.
• Work in conjunction with team members to facilitate upgrades and enhancements.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 5 years of experience in web design and development
• Post secondary education in web, graphic design or interactive multimedia preferred
• Strong creative background & understanding of online retailing requirements
• Expert in Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Dreamweaver, Adobe Acrobat PDF Distiller
• Proficient in HTML, DHTML, CSS, Javascript and Flash ActionScript 2.0 and 3.0
• Strong customer orientation including setting expectations & delivering results
• Thorough understanding of current web standards, cross platform compatibility and graphic design principles, as well as web usability principles
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Familiar with Mac and PC platform
